Hear from our proud Veterans
I would highly recommend to service members returning to the civilian sector, especially those in the health care specialties, to seriously consider CCS. Our company espouses many core values that are upheld by those of us who have served.
At CCS, I love the teamwork and respect for each other's opinions. The military taught me that we must work as a team in order to be the best we can be. No one can be alone and no one can be left behind. The military also paid my way through medical school and residency, allowing me to get the education I needed to succeed.
I love working for a company that dedicates itself to using its resources to help targeted populations that are less fortunate than we are. In the military, every step and breath you take is directed at protecting, defending, and serving each and every citizen of the United States. It is because of this instilled military mindset that I feel honored and called to serve, through CCS, the less fortunate population entrusted to our care throughout the United States and abroad.
I love my fellow employees and the variety of the position at Correct Care Solutions. The military helped me learn to adapt to change quickly, to work with a variety of personalities and to be prepared and organized, which has helped in my growth at CCS.
While in the service I learned about team work and professionalism. I gained valuable skills in leadership and a strong work ethic. My time in the service, leadership training, and experience work with a diverse group of individuals plays a key role in my work with CCS. I was promoted to Director with less than a year of experience in my field (outside of internship) and I strongly believe this is due to what I learned while in the service. I have applied my leadership skills in many ways while at CCS. CCS values their vets and they have provided me with many chances to grow and learn.
When Stan Wofford was seventeen (17), he was into all sorts of mess including being put into the Scared Straight program at Cummins AR DOC. During that time, he met his Scared Straight mentor, Lewis Wallace, who forever impacted his life. After leaving the program, he joined the Navy where he was there for twenty-three (23) years. He put into the hospital corpsman program that allowed him to the get the same training as a Physician’s Assistant and spent 15 of those 23 years with Marine units, as a Hospital Corpsman. He left the Navy on a Friday and started with CCS on the following Monday as an HSA for two (2) years when he was promoted to a Regional Manager, then Regional VP and today Senior Vice President of the State Division in private prisons. Interestingly enough, Stan oversees the original prison where he was a Scared Straight participant...Show more (+)
Jeremy Nation, LPN at Kentucky State Reformatory came to CCS in April 2014. He was a Sergent, E5 in the US Army on active duty from 2004-2008 and then KY National Guard from 2008-2010. During his time, he was a combat medic attached to an infantry Battalion and deployed to Iraq from 2006-2007. "Correctional nursing was a good fit for me when I got out of the military because it gave me a change to fit in well in a similar military manner. The professionalism of CCS was an easy adjustment.
